We’re here to bring a sense of comfort, security and connection to the lives of older people. Find out more about the key team members who can give you the support you need at The Alba. You’ll be supported day in, day out by our experienced, warm and friendly team.
Gary Karro, Retirement Communities Manager at The Alba
Gary brings over 25 years of experience from the luxury hotel sector, having worked with prestigious brands like Crown Melbourne and the Accor Group. His background in hospitality and customer satisfaction has been invaluable in creating a welcoming environment for residents, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported in this new chapter of life. Joining Australian Unity almost four years ago, Gary initially shifted to retirement living as a Covid-driven career change, one he’s never regretted. His motivation extends beyond work, fuelled by his two daughters and his love for sports.
Jenna Smith, Assistant Retirement Village Manager at The Alba
Having joined The Alba over 18 months ago, Jenna sought a change from the hotel industry she had worked in for many years and embraced a new role in retirement and assisted living. Now, she focuses on engaging with residents, coordinating events and fostering community spirit. She collaborates closely with Curtis Stone Events to ensure dining options meet residents’ needs and provides support for concierge, administrative and lifestyle enquiries. Jenna’s passion for her work stems from the strong sense of community and connection with residents, which she finds deeply rewarding.
Shemsa Osmancevic, Sales Manager at The Alba
Shemsa is dedicated to educating the community about independent and supported living for seniors. With a diverse background as a Business Manager, Village Manager and Project Manager, Shemsa brings both expertise and empathy to her role. Many people feel their only options are to stay in the family home, perhaps with minimal support or to move into residential aged care. Shemsa’s mission is to show them a third choice: our community, The Alba, where they can maintain independence with tailored support. For her, the rewards are deeply personal—she finds fulfillment in helping older people live comfortably in their later years.

We’ll also ensure you remain connected to the things you love doing, such as spending time with family and friends, while facilitating new connections with your fellow residents.
